Reduce your waste - start accepting reusable containers today
Our BYO reusable Mealboxes are designed to replace single-use takeaway food containers (plastic and compostable). Like a reusable coffee cup, rePlated Mealboxes are purchased by customers, who then bring their Mealbox with them when they order.
Here are five reasons why you should join our network and start accepting our reusable Mealboxes at your food business.
REASON 1 - They’re cheaper than compostables
Compostable containers are more expensive than their (environmentally unfriendly) plastic cousins. On average it costs about $0.70 or more for a container with a lid and if you have a busy takeaway part of your business, this extra cost can really stack up.
Every time a customer brings a rePlated Mealbox with them, you save the cost of the container (or bag) you would have put their food in.
Reason 2 - you can create an additional revenue stream selling them
Many of our food partners decide to sell our reusable Mealboxes. This means your customers can buy a Mealbox from you when they decide to make the switch to reusables. You then get the profit from the sale, as well as the saving from not needing to provide a single-use container. Winning!
Reason 3 - they have less impact on the enVironment
After 15 uses our Mealboxes overtake even compostables for energy efficiency. This is because every single-use container used requires energy to make them. Even if they are plant or paper based, they had to be grown, harvested and processed. All that to be used for minutes. We can do better.
Reason 4 - they REduce and repurpose waste
Our reusable Mealboxes are made from food grade, Certified Ocean Bound plastic, repurposing the equivalent of about 8 single-use plastic bottles. This means they reduce the waste we are creating and repurpose the plastic waste we have already created.
Reason 5 - they’ll bring in new customers
When you join rePlated Accepted, we’ll add you to our map, so our network of rePlated users will hear about your business, bringing in new customers. Becoming a rePlated Accepted venue also, shows your customers and your community that you care about the environment and that you are doing your bit to reduce waste.
Slow and steady is ok
Finally, it’s important to say that the shift to reusables will be slow and steady for most food business. Simply accepting and encouraging reusables is a great (and manageable) step in the right direction.
